Northern Lights safari by snowmobile

An evening through the winter landscape in search of the Northern Lights, Arctic nature and Northern magic.

 

Join us into the winter-clad landscape around Piteå on a guided snowmobile tour in search of the Northern Lights. When darkness falls, we leave the city lights behind and head out towards the frozen archipelago. We travel through the snow-covered landscape and over the frozen sea ice, far from light pollution and city lights. The route is adjusted according to weather, snow and ice conditions with the goal of finding the best possible conditions for tonight's Northern Lights sighting. With you, you have a local guide who knows the area and shares stories and knowledge.

 

You drive your own snowmobile and share it with another guest. Halfway through the tour, you switch drivers, so that both of you get the chance to experience the feeling of driving through the winter landscape. After we have driven for a while, and are starting to get a little bit cold, we return to Havsbadet and head to a cozy hut to enjoy a three-course meal. Before we gather for our dinner, we meet a herd of reindeer and feed them their dinner. It will be a way to get close to nature, and learn more about the Sami culture.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING A SNOWMOBILE DRIVER

  • Valid driver's license required

  • The driver must be over 18 years old.

  • No alcohol may be consumed before or while driving.

  • You need to be able to understand safety instructions in Swedish or English

ON THE NORTHERN LIGHTS TERMS

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed. Therefore, we can never promise that you will see the Northern Lights, but only give you the best possible conditions to experience them. We therefore adapt the route to weather, cloudiness, snow and ice conditions and seek to avoid city lights.

And should the Northern Lights choose to stay away, an evening of snowmobiling, frozen sea ice, winter landscapes, good food and a meeting with the reindeer still awaits. Sometimes nature decides. It's part of the experience.

YOUR EVENING ON SNOWMOBILES

You don't need to be an experienced snowmobile driver to join us, but you do need to meet our requirements to be allowed to drive. The tour begins with a safety briefing and a walkthrough of how the snowmobile works. After that, we set off together with our guide.

Two people share each snowmobile and switch drivers about halfway through the trip.

For the youngest guests, there is the opportunity to ride behind the guide in a heated sled.
